{does it count?}

March 11, 2010

I’ve been trying to blog lately, a lot. Well, for me anyway. And because pouring my thought into written words definitely doesn’t come natural to me, it can be painful. So, this morning after sitting at my desk for 10 mins, twittering my fingers, numb-brained, with NOTHING to blog about, I thought I’d just start typing.

Which leaves me thinking…”Does this even count as a blog post?” I know merely complaining about having nothing to blog about shouldn’t be the fundamentals constituting a post… but today this is it.

Enjoy your nearly-the-last-day-of-the-week-day!

If I had a magic travel machine that could zap me to anywhere in the world with the click of my heels, today I would be in Las Vegas. Not to play blackjack or poker till dawn, or to check out The Strip, not even to visit their Flamingo wildlife habitat. Today I would be surrounded by thousands of great and inspiring photographer minds at the WPPI conference.

It’s seems like I’m the only person on the planet not reveling in the joys of keynote speakers, trade show exhibitions, product launches and catching up with overseas photographer buddies…

So in celebration of the amazingness that I’m missing out on {sniff…sniff} I thought I’d share a list of some of the photographers and general industry people who inspire me. :)

I think her pink tartan collar adds sophistication, like maybe she’s a Harvard Law graduate?

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Craig: Well, you are not the only one :( Di and I feel the same way... We were there last year and it was amazing! The trek for next year is in the planning stage so check your calendar block out some time in March - you wont regret it :)

Kristie: You lucky ducks, it must have been such a great experience! Definitely hoping to make it next year! :) Some of our best friends are planning their wedding down your way atm, so I think we might be 'expoing' with them this weekend at Ballina, if we do we'll make sure to drop by and say hi!

I’d been looking forward to this wedding for a while, I just kinda had a feeling it would be perfect! :)

Tegan & Campbell were married at Currumbin Beach, followed by bridal photos on the beach, then we popped up to Burleigh Headland for a few shots before heading to Bread + Butter at Kirra.

Oh my goodness. Bread + Butter. This was the first wedding we have had there and it was so GORGEOUS! If you’re looking for something s little different, I would definitely check it out.

The rain decided to make an appearance, but it was quick so it didn’t affect us at all. :)

Okay, on to the sneakin…

Last week we had the great pleasure of catching up with Alex Correa for some corporate portraits at The Powerhouse. We had so much fun! I had been to New Farm Park before but for some bizarre – possibly blonde reason – I didn’t realise the Powerhouse was RIGHT next door – duh! And my… I was in love. The pastel, creamy lime-washed walls, yummy light…mmm…

{my painting}

March 4, 2010

It’s soft. it flows, it’s pretty. The strokes are gentle, each perfectly positioned. Made by his hands. For me.

There was a time long, long ago – before Brett and I were married, before we were even together, when Brett painted me a picture. No one ever had – or has ever since – painted me a picture.

It was one of those pivotal moments in our relationship. Like the very first time we met, or our first ‘date’, the first time we held hands, first kiss, our engagement, our wedding… the painting fits in just between being besties and going out.

It reminds me of his caringness and lovingness every time I look at it on my desk, and it makes me smile. It also reminds me of his amazing talent. Seriously – the paintings he did when he was 12 are just beautiful. I will have to show some here in the future. Until then, here is ‘my painting’.

Awwww gosh, I am always so blown away and humbled by the sheer awesomeness of our couples. Seriously. After a session I’m buzzing for the next half hour talking to Brett about how sweet and amazing the couple was – yes, even though he was right there with me the entire time and saw it with his very own eyes. It just makes me so happy! *big smiles*

So last Sunday was no exception when we caught up with Adam and Rachel for their e-session at Penny Ridge. Which draws me to my next long-winded thought – PENNY RIDGE. Gosh, it is such a magical place. With sweeping 360 degree views, pine trees and vineyards, grassy fields, cute fences, dirt tracks…ohhhh… I think I could shoot in just about any little nook or cranny around that place and be in photographer heaven.

Also… I somehow managed to EAT a bug through my nose during this session. Ugh!  Adam and Rachel didn’t even give me a dirty-shame filled look when I started coughing and squealing – told you our couples are the best!

Anyway, onto the sneak peek…
