Aaron & Jess {Married!}

September 30, 2009

On Saturday we had the pleasure of covering Aaron and Jess’s beautiful beach wedding. The day was so gorgeous, slightly windy, but gorgeous! The ceremony design was done by the truly amazing Erin from Ocean Beach Weddings and looked SO pretty! In my opinion, she does THE BEST beach setup on the coast, really really classy. Plus, Jess had also organized traditional Hawaiian ukulele players/singers, which were so fantastic! They totally made it feel like you were a thousand miles away…

Jess and Aaron are such sweethearts. Their love for each other radiates to all who are around them, creating a warm and fuzzy nest of family and friendship. And speaking of family, they come from two of the best. Jess’s mum had everything under control and organised and her dad would probably have to be one of the proudest of his daughter I’ve seen yet. And Aaron’s family, well he even had his dad as his best man. Its not too often you get to see that - very special. I guess you must know you’re doing something right when your son can also call you his best friend… awww…

The ceremony was held at North Burleigh beach, then we headed to Tallebudgera Valley fir photos then back to North Burleigh Surf Club for the reception.

I’m a little behind today so i’ll leave it here…Don’t hesitate to leave a comment for us or Aaron and Jess!

… {it’s a blur} …

September 25, 2009

It began Monday around lunch time. Well, I guess it REALLY began Monday morning, but I was convinced it wouldn’t get me down. So off we went to the studio. Then at lunchtime, it bit back. My eyes were burning, my skin was stinging, my neck felt like it was dragging a 2 tone shackle, my nose was stuffed, my face was flushed and my concentration was extinct. So Brett dragged me away from my desk, canceled our appointments, bundled me up in the car and took me home to bed. The rest has been a blur. Apparently in 3 1/2 day I managed to watch {parts} of 6 movies between dozing, used 3 boxes of tissues, sent Brett to the chemist twice and complained, whined and moaned in excess of 300 times - *Apparently*.

Seriously, Brett is THE person you want to be around when you’re sick. He is just SO amazingly considerate! He had everything covered. From stocking the cupboard with fruit and dry crackers, making sure I had my dose of barley grain, olive leaf and cough medicine, giving unlimited massages, cuddles and forehead strokes, picking a healthy selection of DVDs, doing the washing/cleaning, and just laying in bed me for days making sure everything was okay. Mmmmm…isn’t he just the best…  :)

Well, just wanted to let you know why the studio has been a little dead this week, and sorry for any slow email replies. Getting onto them right now!

And because Brett makes a place better just by being there…

brett blog

I must say, I tend to get a little-too-excited sometimes. I so often come back from a wedding and feel the intense *NEED* to start editing as soon as I walk in the door. Luckily we don’t have our office at home anymore, so that just leaves me scrolling through my memory card endlessly in bed until my eyes just HAVE to close. Only to keep tossing and turning throughout the night in excited anticipation of editing first thing the next morning, which is usually Sunday…oh, the joys of being a “bury-that-bone” kinda person.

So sometimes, I get too excited the night before and have the same trouble, and Tuesday night was one of those nights! Not only did I have the prospect of a beautiful dress, a picturesque stream, an amazing couple who almost feel like family, and a Road trip {Sweeeeeet!},  to think about all night… there were also going to be HORSES {!!!} I was extremely, totally, infatuatedly EXCITED! This session has been in the pipeline for quite some time now, so to fiiiiiiiiiiinaly have it come into fruition was awesome!

Allen and Alecia are the kind of people who after knowing them for 5 mins, make you feel like you’ve known them since you were two. They are truly the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. And so much FUN! We first met them a few months ago for their engagement session, and because their wedding is less than a month away {wooo-hoooo!} and Alecia has a special “Trash dress” we thought it would be fun to do the TTD before the wedding so they could use the pics for some of the wedding details. So we hit the road, and tripped out to Rathdowney. Which is kinda near Beaudesert. Which is kinda very inland from Nerang. Bonnie, Our Nav-chick was a little off, leading us needlessly up to the top of Mt. Tamborine and back down {?!} but the drive was BEAUTIFUL! Seriously, I couldn’t stop going on about it. Its amazing how diverse the country is, you could have mistaken some of the scenery for Victoria.

So, here is a little sneaky peek from the trashing. And a major, extra-special thanks to Donna, Alicia’s Maid of honor for helping out the entire day and for helping me overcome my fear of horses with a little… I don’t think you could really call it a ‘ride’ so I’ll call it a ‘horse-sit’. lol :)

And to anyone out there who has even been considering a trash the dress session, I definitely say go for it! Having trashed my own wedding dress, I cant even begin to tell you how fun it is. Really! The photos from a TTD are so very different to your wedding day. Plus, you don’t actually have to “TRASH” your dress, we can be as subtle or destructive as you wish. Or, you could do what Alecia did and get a special ‘trash dress’ off eBay. ;)

Anyway, enough of my 1000 mile an hour ranting, here are the photos.

Thanks again for SOOOO much fun guys! Cant wait for the big day! xo

Firstly, Ian & Jody’s wedding… On Saturday we had the great pleasure of photographing Ian and Jody’s wedding at Peppers at Salt. The day was perfect, these guys are absolute sweethearts {Like Ive said before, I’m seriously so blown away by how totally beautiful the couples are we get to photograph. And I mean that sincerely, I think we are blessed with the most loving, friendly and fabulous couples on the coast} AND Jody had my lovely taste so everything was STUNNING. :P I would describe it as chic/vintage… sprinkled with amazingness… Mmmm…

We also got to work with Matt from barwick multimedia and he was SO cool! He is really friendly, funny and professional. Make sure to check out Ian and Jody’s ‘teaser’ on his blog, LUV IT! ;)

So, the story began with the girls getting ready at Peppers…

I turned to mush as soon as I saw Jody’s overnight bag and knew this girl had some serious taste. I *had* to take a photo of it… in the hopes I can find one even half as lovely as it one day…

Then to the guys at the ceremony, which was poolside. btw, the ‘pool’ is more like a man-made beach, which is so perfect for me! I kinda have this ‘dream’ {and I mean that word in the loosest of terms} that one day I can have a man-made beach full of live coral and tropical fish so I can go snorkeling and not have to worry about sharks…one day… :P

Then we headed to the beach. There is something almost magical about the southern coast beaches. I really don’t know what it is but they have this totally different feel to Gold Coast beaches. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Gold Coast beaches, but from Fingal down, beaches are just ‘different’… maybe ive just been sniffing too much salt air…

Three wise {monkeys}

September 13, 2009

I love that title! It sooooooo cracked me up!!! Here’s the story…Brett is the awesomeness that always does the annoying, boring stuff like, backs up photos, clears memory cards, charges batteries, checks timetables etc. etc. So yesterday when I had a wedding appointment with Mel and Nathan who also happen to be the parents of Ella’s Brothers {WOAH!!! I know, such a small world! Mel is actually a friend of a friend, so I had heard that she bought Ella’s brothers just after we got Ella, and I couldn’t resist her bringing along the boys to the wedding appointment! Between us, we almost have the complete litter, lol, like we collect them, like trading cards… :P I think there was one other little pup who the owners kept…} ANYWAY, I was totally stoked to meet them that I couldn’t help but take a trillion photos. So when I went looking for the photos, because you know, my automatic-photo-downloader-and-memory-card-clearer had done his job… I really wasn’t sure where he put them. We do have an ‘our stuff’ folder, but I also have an ‘Ella’ collection… so I was a little lost and Brett was out, so I went searching… Then I found “three wise monkeys” and I knew I hit the jackpot - and it made me laugh. :)

So here are the three wise monkeys… There is Ella {duh…} Jackson {who is SUCH a little cutie!!!} and Yoda {who mostly looks like Ella I think}

Tina & Adam’s {Wedding!}

September 11, 2009

On Wednesday, the 9th of the 9th, 2009 we had the privilege of photographing Tina and Adam’s wedding. Apart from it being a beautiful day, with a beautiful ceremony AND an equally beautiful couple {inside and outsides} its was kinda extra special for us because Tina and Adam are photographers too! As you could image, they were sooooooo WAY to easy to work with. They were pretty much one step ahead of me all day, posing themselves perfectly on their own AND they didn’t look at me strangely when I asked Adam to smell Tina’s ear… which was so nice for a change. :)

Well, here is their sneaky peeky!

ps. We luv, luv, LUV feedback, so dont hesitate to leave a comment for us or Adam & Tina!

Blake & Jess {Married!}

September 9, 2009

We packed the car, preset our “nav-chick”, dropped Ella at her Nana’s and hit the road. There’s something that gets me a little excited when you have to leave extra early and drive extra longer to get there… You couldn’t really call it a road trip, it took less than an hour, but it was a change in scenery and it was fun. Last Saturday we headed down to Byron Bay for Blake and Jess’s Wedding! Brett and I have been totally in love with that stretch of coast for-EVER so it was really nice to make the drive down there again. :) {sidenote: I would so so so SO love to live at Lennox one day…we’ll see…}

So, we started with Blake and the boy’s getting ready. It was the usual totally chilled, is-there-even-a-wedding-today {?!} vibe with the guys, which allowed us to get some really relaxed and natural shots. Which we love best!

The totally stylin’ watch Jess had as a surprise for Blake while he was getting ready…awww!

The boys…

Then we made our way to East on Byron Resort for photos of the gals. Jess was absolutely STUNNING! Sounds strange, but I loved her pallet. Like her hair and skin looked sooooo pretty with the white dress. And her wedding colours were really pretty too, cool blue, white and crystal. Perfect for their beach ceremony.

The ceremony was just outside the Byron Bay Surf Club, which was perfect because the reception was right next door. The ceremony design was done by Creative Events and Weddings and it was stylin’. :)

They even had traditional wedding bells! They were so cool! It added such a great atmosphere…
