{could’nt resist}

March 31, 2010

Today has been BUSY. Lots and lots and lots of things to do! While I was editing I stumbled across this little cutie from our mother’s Day mini sessions last week and couldn’t resist sharing. I’ll have more to come when I have time!

We still have a couple of spots left for Sunday the 11th April at Kingscliff, if you would like one, just flick me an email. ;)

One of my favorite parts of a wedding is bridal prep. A specific time in bridal prep. Just after hello hugs and right before bridal portraits. During this time finishing touches are being made on hair and makeup, soft chatter about lip gloss and shoes move about the room and I get to immerse myself with all the girlie pretties.  It’s probably one of the most relaxing parts of the day. There is, of course, the underlying anticipation of the hours to come, but this time is often chilled and relaxed.

Which got me to thinking about what on earth makes a bride so cool and collected when the one event she has been planning since FOR-EVER is so just around the corner? And well, I’ve decided it’s all in the hair and makeup.

You know when you’re at the hair dresser and all you can do is just. sit. there. For the first five minutes you fidget and tap, but then you enter the zone. The place where you forget the little everything’s that have been consuming your mind and really start to relax and absorb the moment… So not only do we rely on hair and makeup to make us look beautiful, but they are often responsible for setting the mood of the morning.

And two of the friendliest and most chilled out makeup ladies around would have to be Rowena and Sam from Blush. Last week we caught up with them and some gorgeous models for a session. Here’s a few from the day…

March 26, 2010

Last Saturday afternoon it rained. Not just the stop-start sprinkles that we’re used to here on the coast, but the constant kind that allows for no breaks…

So when the first drops came down on the way to Chad & Tuleen’s ceremony we were a little devoed, but figured it would pass… and it did. It passed just long enough for the INDOOR ceremony and the family photos but decided to make an appearance just in time for the beach bridal party photos.

Anyway, Chad & Tuleen were amazing. Honestly. They were up for anything and didn’t let the rain get in the way of their big day. J

Here is their sneak peek…

mothers day mini session blog copy

I am probably the first to admit how easy it can be to put off family portraits. It’s not hard to remember the importance of capturing the big stuff like weddings, engagements, maternity and newborn photos… but family sessions are so easy to put in the “we really should…” basket rather than just getting them done.

And, because I’ve heard time and time again from my own mum that “There’s nothing a mother loves more than her children…” I figured that Mother’s Day is the perfect excuse to have family portraits. Kind of like two birds with the one stone. You can cross ‘family portraits’ off your should list and gift your mumma at the same time. Ingenious!

And ‘family’ portraits doesn’t mean you’ve gotta have kids, btw. Mums still love photos of or WITH their big kids. So that counts in siblings and couples. And we all know mum’s love Nan’s and Pop’s, so you can bring them along too.

So, to make it extra EASY for you we have organised Mother’s Day MINI SESSIONS! Spaces are limited and they are filling up FAST. If you would like to book a mini session, just call or email with your prefered date and time.

We caught up with this little cutie last week. His mumma is a photographer so he should be well used to posing by the time he knows whats happening. ;)

{alana & luke}

March 15, 2010

For days there was sun, until it was time for our beach e-session with Alana & Luke. We had already re-scheduled once due to the uncooperative weather, so this time we decided to just go for it. We did the entire session at alana & luke’s Palm Beach apartment and I was swooning. Ugh… SWOONING.!.!.!. I loved everything. Well, everything apart from a certain recliner that decided to sporadically bucking me every now and then. :)

These guys tie the knot next month around Bangalow, can’t hardly wait! Its going to be GORGEOUS.

Alana designed her own engagement ring, love how unique it is…

As we were walking up the stair well to their apartment I nearly tripped gawking over the awesomeness of the light…

Because we had already planned for the beach session, we had a few props to play with…

Alana is trained as a graphic designer so she designed her wedding invites. I think they look SO stylin’. She also has a few other surprises she is making for the big day, including giant paper pom-poms! I have such a craving to make one, i’ll have to post it if I do… ;)
